Friday 13th may was the opening night for my new exhibition ‘Commotion’ at the Revelstoke Public Art Gallery. A beautiful gallery big enough for most of my 2011 and 2010 works, the event showed my paintings in the main gallery with another exhibit alongside ‘The Human Face of Revelstoke’. Over 100 people passed through the galleries during the evening, and I had the most wonderful time talking to other artists and soaking up the good words and warm response of the visitors. Thankyou to my friends who made the journey from Nakusp, and thanks to the team of artists and the administrator Jackie who hung and displayed my paintings so beautifully. The large gallery really suited my big paintings and for the first time I felt that they were in their right space. The exhibit runs to June 3rd, so if you are in the area please check it out.
I’ve been offered an exhibition in Revelstoke Public Art Gallery in May, its one of my favourite places so I’m pretty excited about that. I’ll have two rooms off the main gallery, and am thinking of applying for the main space instead, mainly because my paintings are large and would look great there …… I have also booked a show from August 1st at the Hidden Garden Gallery in New Denver, a local gallery with a very fine small venue which also has a garden attached. They have had some excellent artists there in the past year or so. And there’s a plan for me to share a show at the Halcyon Hot Springs in early summer, but no dates fixed yet.
For anyone who is in the Nakusp area, I have several sets of cards for sale at Studio Connexion for the ‘Deck the Halls’ Christmas exhibit. Polar Bears and plenty of 2010 images made into gift packs of 2 cards, the studio is open 11.30am-4.30pm Tuesday to Staurday on 5th Avenue.
