In this painting the universal energy binds two people together in a cosmic dance. Part of Hawaiian culture, ʻohana’ means family in an extended sense of the term, including blood-related, adoptive or intentional connection. The concept emphasizes that families, or bonded individuals, are bound together to cooperate and remember one another.
In the background is the galaxy, a spiral of stars which form part of our universe. The figures are infused with this energy, deeply connected to the greater spirit of the universe.
