The Dock

Way down by the old harbour below the level of the water in this flooded valley were the boat dock and the men who worked there. The giant Columbia River flowed past this area and the fruit gathered by local farmers was loaded onto the paddle steamer and sent down the river to wards the markets at the coast. Following the construction of a giant dam this whole area was flooded and the farmland, fruit trees and dock area was flooded and lost forever. This painting is a land memory of the men who worked there.
