Everywhere in every way, the automaton seems to be in control of things; medicine, agriculture, politics, energy, finance – most of the control is now in the hands of an abstract concept, familiar to readers of George Orwell as ‘Big Brother’.
Not a friendly giant at all, the automaton has no human face or human attributes. Decisions are made for profit, based on the fundamental mistake that leads rational people to do irrational things.
The best way to deal with Big Brother is to “ look busy”.
