If the sea is calm and the right seating available on deck and out of the breeze, sitting cross-legged I can sketch the water and let the scene create a space within my soul. There is no traffic and very few distractions. The odd seagull floats by, keeping pace. Occasionally kids chase along the deck. A mother lifts up her daughter’s hair to make a ponytail. Couples take selfies and families unite at the rail, looking out across the ocean.
Gradually worries and stress float away as the ferry cuts through the water. The colours are cool and green, the skyline a thin turquoise blue line.
This painting is 18 x 18 inches. The top gold, the image wraps around the sides.
